Since our Inauguration last year the Cumbrian Druid order has gone from strength to strength, with public ceremony held both at Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick during the summer months and at Miltonrigg Woods just outside of Brampton during the dark half of the year.
Miltonrigg is an ancient woodland with the remains of a little-known Stone Circle on its edge, with a magnificent ancient Beech Tree growing from it, and is a beautiful, peaceful place.
CDO celebrate at Castlerigg during the bright half of the year (Spring Equinox to Autumn Equinox inclusive) and at Miltonrigg from Samhain to Imbolc. We welcome those who wish to join with us in celebrating the Wheel of Life in an appropriate manner.
We have had interest from local press and TV, with a report on the Inauguration in the News and Star and the Westmoreland Gazette and a focus piece on Paul in the Cumberland News, and ITV Border came to the Sunrise on the Summer Solstice.
Since our Inauguration, we have been granted the honour of being accepted as Full Voting Members of the Council of British Druid Orders, and are looking forward to welcoming the Council to our beautiful County some time this year.
We were also honoured to be welcomed as a Grove of the Loyal Arthurian Warband last Lughnasadh, on the same day that Paul (Arch Druid) was handfasted to his long-suffering partner Craig. They even had an RAF flypast! (probably not an intentional one...)
CDO were pleased to hear that Carlisle Council rejected the application by Tescopoly to build a second superstore in the city, after some campaigning by our members. We strongly urge our fellow Cumbrians to protect our farmers and growers by buying from local suppliers and hurting the big 4 where they'll notice - in shareholders profits. You'll be healthier for it too, as will the planet. It is with great regret that we heard of the loss of the Cloffocks in Workington to Tescopoly. We say "CONTINUE THE UPPIES AND DOWNIES ON THE CLOFFOCKS! JUST RUN THROUGH TESCO'S!
CDO are currently engaged in researching and campaigning for local Housing Authorities to use government incentives and provide renewable energy sources for its Tenants.
